It’s Friday, and I am so damn glad. Still nothing to do at work, since everything that I could be working on requires other people to do things to the server, etc. I worked with Mark this morning on the web radio idea. As soon as it rains, we’ll go out and shoot his urban-legend-dead-hitchhiker movie. That should be fun.
has been writing about her visit back home to her family in the States, and it’s made me quite homesick. For some reason today I was remembering going to the Roadhouse. Picture a very large, open-plan, rustic restaurant; this place serves meat, and lots of it. There are barrels of peanuts (monkey nuts to you here) and there are buckets of them on your table. You throw the shells on the floor, which makes a kind of sawdust coating. BBQ is definitely on the menu, and you can see the guys grilling it behind the long window. Drinks come in mason jars (large jars that are used for canning vegetables). I can drink one of those puppies – any more, and I’m flat on my ass. They have appetisers featuring crispy potato-skin mountains loaded with cheese, bacon and sourcream. There is a “Messy Sundae” for dessert: dinner plate, with a huge glass goblet filled with homemade ice cream in the middle of it. Then pour so much hot fudge over it that it runs down the sides and pools in the plate. Top with nuts and whipped cream. Cholesterol city, but god is it good. :)
I want to go home in January, even if we have to charge everything. I miss my family.
In the meantime, it’s a steak, baked potato and wine night tonight, then videos. Being bored is really, really hard work. *looks through eyelashes*
What, you’re not buying that either? lol…
If you come back and make it anywhere near Ohio I’ll take you out to one of the most incredible steak places you can imagine.. oooh the delight of it..
Of course if you want to slum it and go to Roadhouse or Texas roadhouse that would be fine too..
Not that I’m a red meat snob or anything ;)
Just thinking about a really big juicy steak is making my mouth water. I love rare meat.mmmmm.The Roadhhouse sounds like a great place for a night out, relaxed and big portions. Sorry you are missing home, hope Kipper helps take your mind off things. Are you still going to call him that? I suppose changing his name might confuse him. I’m off riding myself tomorrow. Hope you have a great time welcoming Kipper into his new home.
We’ll be waiting for you – whenever you make it back…
*warm hugs & kisses*
Mmmmnnnn…sounds good. :) If you were a red meat snob, you’d go to places where they serve small, artistically-presented portions that look like an arrangement of Japanese flowers. A true red-meat person wants it tasty, tender, generously-sized and bloody in the middle. I could never be a vegetarian.
He’s here!!! :) We settled him in and are going back this afternoon. He’s already snorted horse loogies all over my face and sent Phil into an allergy attack. lol…he’s such a sweetie. I’ll probably keep the name – it’s supposed to be bad luck to change it.

I’ll hold you to that. :) January, maybe February. We have a LOT of catching up to do!
Awww… I’m sorry it’s made you homesick sweetie. Just let me know if you’d like to get together for some expat-social time. I might even be able to provide a few sweeties or candy you may not have had for a while. :) Or, I could post you a few samples. :)
Oh! Are you still looking for a new gig? If so, could you email me at my LJ mail address… and I’ll give you some info about a possible opportunity in your field. Could you let me know what you can do? If no, just reply to this comment. :)
Yes – thank you!!! I’ll mail you the info. :)
Yay!
Yes, we do!
