Just got back from the barn, and bathing Kipper. lol…I think I’m dirtier now than he was when I started! Our barn is having an April Fun Day with jumping, gymkhana, and silly classes like Most Reflective Horse and Rider, Best Six Legs, and Best Decorated Mane and Tail. To that end, since Kip has 1) never actually ever been in a ring with other horses, and 2) is too young to jump, we’re entering Best Decorated Mane and Tail. :)
I bought packages of baby-blue satin rosettes with teddy bears in the middle for his braids. It was the most embarrassing thing I could find, since they didn’t have any of the glittery feathery ones. lol…Kip is going to be SO humiliated in front of his friends!
Seriously, it will be fun to get him dressed up in party gear and let him walk around and experience all the excitement and noise. I’ll have to take pictures of him, so everyone can see how silly he looks. That is, if neither of us has contracted pneumonia by tomorrow morning. And also if he doesn’t get overexcited and unceremoniously dump me in front of the little kids and ponies.
That is something that I love about living here. You can schedule a fun show on Easter Sunday in full expectation that people will be able to go. No one will be at church, no one will feel that it is sacrilegious to have a horse show on Easter Sunday, because hardly anyone is religious here. When you grow up in conservative/religious America, this is extremely refreshing. Long live England and bless her little atheist heart. :)
I cant wait to see the pictures, I am sure he wil look beautiful:) I loved braiding th ehorses tails/manes, it really is quite relaxing, I think they secretly enjoy it too.
I still catch myself occasionally feeling that I shouldn’t be doing DIY or mowing the lawn on a sunday. A conservative religious upbringing is so hard to shake off, but I must admit, I LOVE living in a secular society.
We’re all going to Hell, but hey, we get Sundays off.

He did seem to enjoy the attention, although Phil made a lot of nancy-boy comments. I feel like I’m twelve – I love my horse. :)
It’s something that I very much appreciate, having grown up in an environment where people still look shocked if you take the Lord’s name in vain. It is difficult to shake off, yes…but I suppose that I appreciate the difference. It’s one of the reasons that I feel so at home here.

Yeah, he’s a girly boy. lol…poor guy, they’ll all want to kick his ass in the pasture now. :)
