Unusable Google

Hopefully this is something that Google has broken/gone overboard on and will fix it shortly, but the search engine has just within the last half hour or so become unusable. Just when I was doing a fair amount of research, as well. Any search will lead you to a page that reads:

Warning – visiting this web site may harm your computer!

Suggestions:

  • Return to the previous page and pick another result.
  • Try another search to find what you’re looking for.

Or you can continue to http://www.wikipedia.org/ at your own risk. For detailed information about the problems we found, visit Google’s Safe Browsing diagnostic page for this site.

For more information about how to protect yourself from harmful software online, you can visit StopBadware.org.

If you are the owner of this web site, you can request a review of your site using Google’s Webmaster Tools. More information about the review process is available in Google’s Webmaster Help Center.

That’s what you get when trying to find Wikipedia, for example. It’s a very good example of “CYA” gone mad. Let’s see if some developer at Google says “Oh, shit!” soon and fixes it.  :/

Edit: Even funnier?  If you search for “Google” you get the same result.  :D  Amusing, but I need to get some damned work done.

  1. I hate Yahoo. :( And I have been cutting and pasting, but it’s a pain to do when you’re trying to flip through lots of search results. Although, it is funny…Google broke the Web. :D

  2. at first i’ve started to check for spyware at my computer, then another – Linux, and that told me there is something wrong with G, could be worse;)
