Omigod…I SO want this. This is my favourite book of Poppy Z. Brite, one of my favourite authors, presently being auctioned on Ebay.
An early manuscript of Poppy Z. Brite’s second novel, “Drawing Blood”. Hand signed and numbered #4 of ten copies. Excellent condition. Underneath the signature is the author’s thumb print in her own blood. “Drawing Blood” is a materpiece of gay erotic horror fiction, the love story of two lifetime misfits, Trevor and Zach, a comics artist and a computer hacker. The story takes place in a haunted house in Missing Mile, North Carolina (the setting for Brite’s first novel, “Lost Souls”) where Trevor’s family was massacred when he was a child. This novel sealed the author’s reputation as a major talent and is widely viewed to be Brite at the top of her game. This is definitely a one of a kind item and a must-have for the true collector.
I woke this morning with a song in my head, playing endlessly over and over: Mad World, from the Donnie Darko soundtrack.
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tommorow, no tommorow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dying
Are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
‘Cos I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It’s a very, very
Mad World
Very cold this morning, and the roads were frosty. Winter is here. I called my family last night to tell them happy Thanksgiving; it was nice to talk to all the sibs and my neice Kayla. My mother seemed to tire very quickly – I get the feeling that it is a huge effort for her to talk clearly on the phone. I also called Morgaine, who has just moved to Idaho with her boyfriend. He says he loves her very much. :) She said that I would like him because he was a jock/preppie boy, and not a “weirdo.” lol…I suppose that does make a change.
All in all, things are ok.
Sorry dinner wasn’t a full-on turkey dinner, maybe at the weekend?
