squeeee post

The meeting yesterday went very well. What they want to offer me is a project manager role: writing the technical spec for the project, a timeline for deliverables, estimating what resources will be needed, heading the design and development teams, etc. They want to do it on a contract basis at first, to see how we both get on with each other, which is fine for me. I do NOT want to get locked into a very negative situation as in my last job.

They’ll write up a proper job spec by the end of the week, and then I have to respond with a salary requirement. They wouldn’t give me a range that they were thinking about, so I’ll have to think hard about to approach this. Since I hope that it will turn into a permanent position, I don’t want to ask what I normally would as a contractor. Hmmmnn…I’ll have to do some research on this.

Good news, though. I feel like such a huge weight has been taken from me.

I got terribly lost on the way home. I have no sense of direction at all; if I have clear directions on how to get somewhere, I will get completely lost when I try to reverse it to get home, which is what I did last night. Consequently, I spent two hours driving through the ass end of Stoke, Hanley, Burslem, Newcastle, etc. Nightmare. I was late getting to the stable, and someone had already put Lizzie away for me.

*bounce* Things are looking up!

  1. lol… after your phone calls tearfully telling me you were in Wolstanton and my fristration at not being able to give you directions as I had NO idea what direction you were facing and no landmarks to go off – the moral of the story is:

‘Do not follow signs to towns we don’t live in!’

    *grin*

But the important part was you GOT there, getting back from an interview can take as long as it takes – and you impressed them as I knew you would…

    : )
