The meeting yesterday went very well. What they want to offer me is a project manager role: writing the technical spec for the project, a timeline for deliverables, estimating what resources will be needed, heading the design and development teams, etc. They want to do it on a contract basis at first, to see how we both get on with each other, which is fine for me. I do NOT want to get locked into a very negative situation as in my last job.
They’ll write up a proper job spec by the end of the week, and then I have to respond with a salary requirement. They wouldn’t give me a range that they were thinking about, so I’ll have to think hard about to approach this. Since I hope that it will turn into a permanent position, I don’t want to ask what I normally would as a contractor. Hmmmnn…I’ll have to do some research on this.
Good news, though. I feel like such a huge weight has been taken from me.
I got terribly lost on the way home. I have no sense of direction at all; if I have clear directions on how to get somewhere, I will get completely lost when I try to reverse it to get home, which is what I did last night. Consequently, I spent two hours driving through the ass end of Stoke, Hanley, Burslem, Newcastle, etc. Nightmare. I was late getting to the stable, and someone had already put Lizzie away for me.
*bounce* Things are looking up!

Very glad to hear that it was a positive meeting. Good luck with the salary negotiations!
Glad to hear it went so well for you. A site I use for work a lot is http://www.payfinder.com/ it gives average salarys for all sorts of positions.
lol… after your phone calls tearfully telling me you were in Wolstanton and my fristration at not being able to give you directions as I had NO idea what direction you were facing and no landmarks to go off – the moral of the story is:
‘Do not follow signs to towns we don’t live in!’
But the important part was you GOT there, getting back from an interview can take as long as it takes – and you impressed them as I knew you would…
Very good news.
Thanks – I’ll check that out. :)
Sorry for being such an idiot and getting hysterical. :)
Yes – HUGE relief to be (close to being) employed again. :)
