running in place

I always wanted a “cool” job. Now that I have one, all I can think about is going back to something easier. Some people are never satisfied. :)

Late home last night, too late to even sub in on the Magtheridon run, so I didn’t bother logging in. Miz was playing the just-arrived Overlord and having a lot of fun, so I collapsed into a chair, read, and intermittently watched.

“You’re not really going to kill that unicorn, are you?”

“Those poor little hobbits, don’t you feel bad for destroying their village and stealing their food? Oh, you’re leaving them this food – so you’re only a semi-evil Overlord? Evil Lite?”

Today we have a big meeting with a university that is interested in partnering with us on the development of the metaverse project – we desperately need the help and resources, and they have an amazing amount of resources to offer, everything from professional-level TV studios (yep, plural), sound studios, AI Department, and so on and so on. It would be good.

I’m also working on doing concept art for the exterior and interior environments, as well as character building choices. I’ll post something over the next few weeks. So much of what I want to do I’m using WoW as inspiration; we’re not creating a fantasy environment, but there will be fantasy elements to it. I love the way that Warcraft artwork is stylised, and is hence more accessible to lower-spec machines – it also avoids becoming dated. The text chat channels work very well, and since all elements of the site have to be accessible in both the 2D, 2.5D and 3D environments, the analogies of mailbox, bank, auction house, etc., work very well for us.

But enough…time to grab something quick to eat before the meeting.

Actually, I had stolen ALL the hobbits food – the dilemma presented was whether to give it back to the humans the hobbits had stolen it from – or keep it solely for myself.
