Quick Note

Good thing I found another job before they decided to TOTALLY fuck up the site that I used to work for. *grrrrrrr* Gods know I wouldn’t have found another job with THAT on my CV as an example of my design work.

In other news, all is well. I have an ASP.NET 2.0 for Dummies book on my desk as we speak. Hey, Dummies books are one of the best ways to get a simple introduction to something that you know very little about. You’ll never refer to them again, of course, once you have the basics down…but they can’t be beat for basic info.

I read the other day that there are roughly 3000 fatal or serious horse-related accidents on Britain’s roads every year, which translated to something like one per every daylight hour. THAT’s why I hate riding on the roads here. Most of the accidents were on rural roads, which are the ones that I travel: winding, narrow lanes where you travel at 60 mph, hoping that you won’t come around a blind curve to find an obstruction in the road…like a horse. Reasons for causing these kind of accidents mainly involved speeding and not planning ahead for non-vehicle traffic (“I thought if there was a car coming, I could see the headlights on the hedge, so I was safe.”)

Someone here has Bananaphone as their ringtone…every time it goes off, people start singing along with it. :)

  1. Wrox publish a decent .NET 2 book called Professional ASP.NET 2.0. I don’t usually rate Wrox books, but that one’s pretty decent.

  2. Bananaphone? OMG! I’m so very sorry! I had a co-worker at my last job who played that song over and over and over and over until it drove me to the near point of homicide. I was so near the edge and he was so hated by his other co-workers that they would sing along just to purposely push me that last inch in hopes I would go through with it and do them all a favor. Unfortunately, I discovered that making death threats to a co-worker is grounds for termination of employment. *Doh!* Goddess I hate Bananaphone!!!

    I feel your pain.
