Let’s have a mobile phone symphony. Let’s all turn the volume on our frigging phones up to max, place them on our desks for maximum range, and fuck off out to lunch. That way those of us working through lunch will have something to entertain us while we work, an amusing musical interlude.

I can sympathise – my old boss LH used to be the worst, her office being next to mine – the Las Ketchup song was her ring tone and she kept her phone turned up to MAX. She’d often go into long meetings leaving it on her desk…and she gets a LOT of calls.
Over and over, and over…I’d try closing her door – no luck, dropping it in a drawn AND closing the door – nope…it would still gnaw away at my sanity…

This very nearly happened to someone I worked with (not by me, I hasten to add) – it would have been beautifully plausible too because they invariably set their phone to vibrate first, which is great when it’s in a pocket, but on a hard wooden table top, it means that the phone makes a really irritating buzzing sound for a few seconds, and then rings.
Actually, it buzzes and travels across the desk under the power of its own vibrations.
Hence the plausible water.

Depends on the relative positions; if the glass had been left on the floor, or a shelf below the desk, or if the phone had been left on the window sill with a 20 foot drop beneath it … :-)

We have a policy against cell phones here at work – they must be on silent mode. However, this was ONLY implimented after customers complained about hearing them go off while talking to us on the phone. Bad image and all. Which it is.
However people STILL leave them on. and f*cking loud too.
I’ve gotten in the habit of finding said cell phone and dropping it into a drawer of one of the abandoned desks across the room. I’ll lock it too and drop the keys on the desk of the person it was from.
I love my cell phone but DESPISE the way others abuse it. I always have the most quiet setting and hate it if anyone but me hears it go off. This new one rocks since the entire faceplate lights up when it goes off, so I can leave it on silent and still see when I’ve a call.
Alas. Etiquette is antiquitated and cell phone etiquette never got far with people who lack manners.

lol…LOVE it. I can relate to this since the one that was on the desk to me was set to both vibrate and ring. No matter how many times I hear it, the vibration makes me jump sky-high.

The people who do this in my office are the same ones who have loud, personal conversations, read their horoscopes loudly to the room at large, etc. No manners, or consideration, at all.
