Hopeful

As I was walking to work this morning, I saw a flyer for a new fencing club at the leisure centre very near to where I work. I want to try it again. I know that torn and damaged cartilage doesn’t heal itself, and I may not be able to do it, but god do I want to try. I’ve tried braces and wraps; I didn’t have surgery because I’ve never known anyone to come back 100% successfully afterwards…but I miss it so much. I still have my silver medal plaque for the Pacfic Coast Championships on the wall in the computer room.

Otherwise, not much happening. Just marking time.

Recently there was an interesting entry on Moby’s blog:

Dark And Corrupt
9/29/2003 – New York City

“ok, so some ne’er-do-wells in the bush administation might have broken a very serious law and revealed the name of an undercover cia operative as a way of getting revenge on the cia operative’s husband. the cia operative’s husband had issued a report that said that saddam hussein wasn’t actively pursuing enriched plutonium for the making of nuclear weapons. so apparently some people in the white house called some journalists to reveal this man’s wife’s name, as she’s an undercover cia agent.

this is a very serious crime. a treasonous crime. and to put our minds at ease condoleeza rice has let the nation know that the matter is being investigated by the justice department. and who heads the justice department?

john ashcroft, an old friend of bush and co.

and how did ashcroft get his job?

well, he was appointed by bush, of course.

living in the united states is becoming more and more like being a character in a solzhenitsyn book.

the levels of deceit and corruption in the bush white house are staggering. it’s safe to say that posterity is going to judge the ‘bush years’ as one of the darkest and most corrupt periods in american history.”

Amen.

  1. Try!!! If it turns out that you can’t do it, well then you’re no worse off than you were before. Naturally, I’d say take precautions, use braces or what-have-you to protect your knee(s?) as best you can but definitely give it a shot!

Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it!

    You know you wanna…
