Thank you to the guy in the market who caught my eye, leaned in and whispered “so very beautiful,” and then discreetly stepped back. That was a nice compliment, beautifully and respectfully delivered, and I walked away smiling.
We all need compliments, we all need to hear that we look good, or are creative, or that our work is appreciated. And it’s something that none of us do enough for other people. It’s something that I’ll try to remember to do more often; sometimes just a word, a quick encouragement can make all the difference in someone’s outlook.
Anyway, this morning I was feeling a bit blue, and the walk and the market guy turned it around. I feel much better. I feel noticed.
