Friends

How does anyone manage to keep up with a large friends list? I have trouble skimming through all the entires, much less coming up with anything of value to add as a comment. I hate chiming in with “Me, too” comments, or *hugs* (unless sorely needed). I skim at lunch, thinking that I’ll respond more in depth that night, and by the time I get off work, ride, muck and feed, it’s 8:30 or so. We have dinner, and then I’m too tired to answer mail or get on the computer to do anything.

I’m supposed to be in London tomorrow for a big meeting, but there’s too much happening here. They’ll have to patch me in by phone. :(

Lizzie is doing very well; I have a lesson tonight. Even though she’s infuriating about a lot of things, and would be impossible for most people to want to deal with, I love her. She suits me to a T. You know the saying about animals resembling their owners, or vice versa? We’re both very Type-A, we’ll give 150%, but we get twitchy about things not going our way, we’re overly-sensitive and extremely touchy about personal space. I call her The Princess, as she requires to be treated a certain way or she gets upset. She’s very dominant, and needs to control every encounter or situation, which contributes to her problems with other horses and her phobia about new environments such as the big pastures. She loves to be groomed in a certain way, which can change to irritation in a flash and she’ll whip around and kick or bite if you stray into a ticklish area.

I understand her. She means so much to me.

  1. I don’t know how people with hundreds on their list do it. I am on the pc a lot and only just manage to keep up. I have the advantage that I have a lj window open when I am working, I read between sending responses/checking answers.

  2. if I couldn’t or didn’t check LJ pretty constantly while at work, I’d have to trim from my friends list — else spend an hour a day catching up. Um, no thanks. But while at work, it’s lovely and it keeps me sane.

hehe – you know, I could have written that exact paragraph about you..!

    : )

  4. I have a very hard time checking anything at work, since we’re so slammed all the time (small team, too much to do, people always coming over to my desk, open plan offices).

  5. I filter my friends list so that I read some people every day and have others under a ‘less frequently read’ filter.. I also keep my communities completely seperate because they are so busy I’d never be able to keep up on a regular basis…

  6. It’s very difficult, but I happen to like my list, so I try… but I don’t get to comment as much as I’d like… damned job.
