It’s an absolutely stunning day, and I don’t want to be here. I’m bored (ok, as always, but especially so today) and I want to be out enjoying the day. Thank goodness we have a four day weekend! Woo hoo!
Things I Want to Do (Realistic List):
(This is a do-able, affordable list. There is another list entirely, of expensive things like trips to Egypt. There’s also another, impossible list, which is where things like “Be An Astronaut” and “Write a Bestseller” live.)
1. Visit Ireland, look up what I can of the family history.
2. Get another horse.
3. Take a weekend trip to Paris.
4. Have a long weekend in London with Phil, and visit the Tower of London and the British Museum.
5. Pony-trekking in Wales.
6. Learn falconry.
7. Buy a sportscar. I miss my little red Celica.
8. Take bullfighting lessons.
Ok, I know that last one should be on the Probably Will Never Do It list, but still…it’s been a dream since I was a kid. Yes, I know that bullfighting is a blood sport and it’s very cruel – I’ve watched it both in Mexico and in Peru. I just want to find out if I have the cojones to stand my ground, thinking about technique and artistic presentation, with a massive black bull hurtling at me. Maybe Portugues bullfighting – I don’t think they kill the bull, and they don’t use picadores.
That made me think about a book that I once read, called The Gift, written by Kirk Douglas. Yes, that one, the tough-guy actor. It’s a gorgeous, romantic novel, about horses and bullfighting.
My mind is all over the place today…is it any wonder that I find it impossible to concentrate on work? I need to be in a park, laying in the sun, with my shoes off.
*sigh* I have Spring fever SO badly.
I want a horse.
Hmm…
And I want a JBA…and I know which’ll cost less to maintain!! PLUS – you still get the wind-in-your-hair feeling as you hurtle down a country lane!!
Days like today I miss my old open-top Sports Car…
