“The President considers this nation to be at war,” a White House source says,” and, as such, considers any opposition to his policies to be no less than an act of treason.” Full Article.
The news from the states distresses me so much. It’s always on my mind. I am so glad to be out of there, but all of my family and friends are back there right in the middle of the mess.
A friend here at work loaned me “Stupid White Men” by Michael Moore. We’re going to go see Bowling for Columbine this Tuesday. I’m looking forward to both.
How can these events be happening in the states? We used to feel so smug about ourselves. The mostly unspoken opinion here is that America is going mad. We scare the crap out of everyone. Bush scares the crap out of everyone. It’s as though he feels that he can do anything that he wishes, and there will be no negative repercussions from any of his actions.
How did he get into office, anyway? He lost. By half a million votes. How does that happen in America? I suppose the same way that the wetlands will be eaten away, and women will lose their reproductive freedom, and we will go to war on behalf of the oil companies…so in the end, it won’t matter because we’re going to have the shit kicked out of us. Internally, by Bush and his buddies, and externally by getting into this ill-starred war that no one except Bush and Co. really want. It happens because we are too apathetic to speak out about it. No one wants to stand up and say “You guys are all criminals and religious-nazi megalomaniacs, and we want you OUT.”
I suppose I’m a fine one to talk. I got the hell out of the madhouse, and I’m glad.
