I just noticed, when logging into WordPress, that on the list of Today’s Hot Blogs was “The Best Place for Club Penguin Hacks, Cheats, Secret Stuff and More!!!” Really? I CAN HAS CHEEZBURGER? I understand, but Club Penguin hacks? lol…
As I think I’ve written about before, the site that I’m working on will include a 3D virtual worlds social area, as well as areas designed as instanced 3D learning material. We won’t be a game in the sense that Warcraft is a game, but I’d like to add a game element to it. One of the things that I want to do is secret rooms and puzzles everywhere, where you gain xp by collectively or individually working out the puzzles.
Recently I came across the ARG for an upcoming movie that takes the form of a series of puzzles that you need to unlock. I really suck at puzzle games, so they were quite difficult. Nice execution and artwork, though. This is the type of thing that I would like to scatter all through the interior and exterior environments…not sure how this will work in an X3D based environment, but we’ll see. So much of what we’re doing has never been done before, so we’re kind of feeling our way along.
We’re going to do a lot of ARG-based games on the site. Some real-world, some site-based, some virtual-worlds based. It’s going to be a major part of what we do, once we have the staff levels to allow it…it’s not ideas that are the problem. It’s manpower. Or womanpower, as the case may be. :)
Not much else happening. BT thought about allowing us online last night and then decided that no, we were going to be denied. (They have a weird authentication problem on their end: we call to complain, they do a line test which is fine, we bitch some more, they say they don’t know what the problem is but will file something about the problem, then overnight a technician kicks something to restart it and we’re back online the next day.) So, Miz missed Karazhan. I couldn’t have gone anyway, since the group that I was in on Sunday has a too-early start time. Really, really irritating.
*sigh* Back to work…
You missed Karazhan too! I’ve told you 29857298 times that start times are fixed for you! See you on Magtheridon tonight! =)
In an odd coincidence, I am helping NYTimes bestselling sci fi author Walter John Williams design an ARG to coincide with the publication of his next book.
Synchronicity.
Ooh, you’ll have to tell me about that. I’d love to hear whatever you can say about it (although you’ll probably work under an NDA).
